Gary Johnson Strikes a Cord With Willie Nelson

The all important pot legalization demographic has been officially locked for the 2012 presidential race.

Willie Nelson, who was last arrested in November for marijuana possession (don’t worry, he only lost six ounces), has endorsed Republican push-over Gary Johnson for President of the United States.

Truly though, if you’re running on a legalization platform and can’t get Willie Nelson to sign on, you should pack your bongs and go home.

Luckily for Gary, this patriotic bard and founder of the ‘Teapot Party’, a group a advocating pot legalization, has backed the former New Mexico governor.

“I am truly gratified to have the endorsement of such an iconic entertainer, philanthropist, innovator and champion for individual rights as Willie Nelson,” said Johnson.

“Not only is he a superstar talent, he is a bold advocate for social change. Americans are demanding the freedom and opportunity to pursue their dreams without interference from a heavy-handed government, and Willie Nelson lends a tremendous voice to those demands.”

Demanding freedom? Check!

Pursing their dreams? Check!

Heavy-handed government? Check!

Tremendous voice?  Um.. have you listened to Nelson recently?  He’s got old-man-Bob-Dylan-voice-syndrome.

We’re happy for you, Gary, we really are, but I’m afraid in a few months you’ll just be Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.
